OnePlus Nord Review – Price, Features and Launch

AR Launch Event For OnePlus Nord Smartphone

The ongoing coronavirus pandemic situation has forced companies to rethink their customer interaction strategies. One company that has already implemented a new strategy is OnePlus. OnePlus has organized an augmented reality (AR) launch event for its next smartphone, OnePlus Nord. The OnePlus Nord is designed and priced to attract the mid-range smartphone buyers who have always appreciated OnePlus phones but could not buy them because of budget constraints. The face of OnePlus, Carl Pei, gave the augmented reality presentation to launch the OnePlus Nord series in India. The presentation began with the discussion and thanksgiving for the OnePlus 8 series that Carl Pei said is seeing great success.

The best part about the augmented reality presentation was that the clutter that most smartphone launch events have, was cut directly to come to the specifications and price of the new model. In this article, let us review the specifications and pricing of the OnePlus Nord in India and our first impressions of the phone.

OnePlus Nord, Cheaper Without Compromising On Features & Specs

The Chinese smartphone giant has only one purpose behind launching the OnePlus Nord in India. It is to woo the mid-range smartphone buyers so that the market expands for their phones in the future. Talking about the specifications, the smartphone has:

  1. A 6.44-inch screen that has an additional AMOLED display and is a full HD screen
  2. The top model of the phone has a 12 GB RAM and a 256 GB storage facility available. LPDDR4X RAM is present in the phone that is a fourth-generation low power RAM for mobile phones. UFS 2.1 storage type is given that can help in moving data easily between the processor of the phone and other mass storage devices
  3. The OnePlus Nord has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G SoC that can provide an integrated 5G connectivity at low prices. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G SoC also gives a 35-40% boost to the phone speed
  4. Gray Onyx and Blue Marble are the two available colors choices for OnePlus Nord
  5. The cameras in all OnePlus phones have never disappointed us and stand out exceptionally. The OnePlus Nord series is no different. It has a quad-camera setup with a 48-megapixel main camera, 2-megapixel macro camera, 8-megapixel wide-angle shooter, and a 5-megapixel depth sensor
  6. There are two front cameras in the OnePlus Nord smartphone. The main front camera is a 32-megapixel camera while the second is an 8-megapixel wide-angle camera

OnePlus Nord Price Fits Perfectly In Mid-Range Smartphone Users’ Budget

As we have been stating from the beginning, the main attraction on the mobile phone will be its pricing. The OnePlus Nord costs Rs. 24,999 for a 6GB RAM and 64 GB storage. The 8GB RAM and 128GB storage combo are available for Rs. 27,999. The most anticipated 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage models will be sold at Rs. 29,999 in India. Buyers can start placing orders for the OnePlus Nord from August 4, 2020, exclusively on Amazon. However, the base model will be available for sale only from September 2020, until then, only the 8GB + 128GB or 12 GB+ 256 GB combo models will be on sale.

The first impressions of the OnePlus Nord mobile phone are pretty good. The Warp Charge 30T fast charging facility given along with a 4115 mAh battery is expected to attract a lot of customers to the phone. Carl Pei said in the AR launch event that the Warp Charge 30T fast charging can charge the battery from 0 to 70% in just 30 minutes. Moreover, the readiness of the phone to operate with 5G technology is also a good inclusion. While it has nothing new on the software front as it runs with Android 10-based OxygenOS 10.5, it still works well with the overall package. Lastly, OnePlus buds are compatible with the phone that is OnePlus’ new launch to compete in the wireless earphones market.
